Border Patrol interrupts another smuggling attempt

Early this morning agents with the Casa Grande Station seized over 1,600 pounds of marijuana, that was being smuggled across the border into the U.S.

Agents arrived on the scene near Stanfield, Arizona and found an abandoned Chevrolet Tahoe, that had earlier been identified as a suspected smuggling vehicle.  It was observed that five subjects fled the scene before agents arrived, and could not be located.

When agents searched the Tahoe they found 74 bundles of marijuana, that weighed close to 1,657 pounds and was worth an estimated $828,500.  Both the drugs and the truck were seized.  The drug bundles were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for processing.
